This is a bulk low grade trade lot of mainly late Roman coins, these are our lowest ever priced Roman coins and would be ideal for either bulk cleaning, or indeed resale on ebay or other online sites. We managed to purchase these at a very good price so that is reflected in the low trade sale price of the coins. Due to the bulk trade nature of the coins we are only selling them in 0.5 and 1kg packages.

    3. Artemis Hoard

      Artemis Hoard

This hoard offers a fantastic mix of almost exclusively earlier and larger Roman coins as well as a super selection of uncleaned classical Greek coins. I would say as a rough guess that around the mix will be in the region of 50/50 after cleaning judging by the sizes. So this not only offers potentially rare early Roman, but also very nice and extremely collectable and potentially valuable early Greek coins. They are lovely crusty coins generally, so full of surprises. As you clean the passage of thousands of years of time off of these coins, you know that you will likely be finding some super stuff such as Nike Victory coins, Hercules coins, Thunderbolt coins, along with other Gods such as Apollo and Zeus. There are also many Greek coins with pictures of horses on. The Roman coins they are generally earlier, larger and some show some premium detail before even being touched. Some of these coins will definitely prove to be rare and valuable as they are coming out of such a great hoard. It really does have the best of both worlds in his one. I would say that this hoard from a prospecting point of view is as exciting as our old “Jupiter hoard”. It also has some nice looking rings in it, as well as some unusual artefacts and ancient beads. You just know this one is going to be really interesting right from the outset. I would say this is one of those “Investment “ opportunity hoards. Irrespective of if you enjoy cleaning coins for a hobby, or to attribute them and re sell them this one will be a “premium rarity” buy and a whole lot of fun.

      Sophia

This is a large hoard of mainly late Roman coins, they are in better than average condition for what we normally see. A good amount of them have some detail already showing on them and there seems to be a fair mix of earlier Roman coins mixed in with the odd later silver coins. They are great value for money for later uncleaned Roman as you get around 600 coins per KG.

      Sold out within 24 hours.

This is one of those hoards that rarely comes up and when it does it puts a smile on your face. It has everything going for it, firstly it is 90+% Ancient Greek coins, with just a few early Roman coins in the mix. Everyone loves Greek coins, they are so beautiful, collectable, valuable and generally far more sought after than most other coinage of the time. These are all thick and chunky coins that will be extremely exciting to clean up. Although crusty enough to offer almost a complete surprise of what lies beneath you can see some beautiful classical detail on some of them with Gods, as well as Horses, Pegasus, Griffins, and Eagles. This hoard offers extremely good prospecting opportunities to potentially uncover some rare and exciting coins when cleaned. As a guess I would say that the majority of them are very early at around 2-300 BC. Also the few noticeable Roman coins in here seem to also be nice early examples generally. I am sure these will be a very rewarding investment of both time and money as you clean them, not to mention the history and mythology coming to life right in your hands. The only regret with these coins is that this hoard is only around 7Kg. That being said we are extremely pleased to have been able to purchase it, as finding coins like this in this day and age is getting extremely difficult.

      Arcas

This is a collection of really wonderful unattributed cleaned Greek coins from a collector in Europe, and is certainly some of the nicest Greek coins that we have ever seen. They have been meticulously and painstakingly cleaned to an exceptionally high standard. Cleaning coins to this level is something that is not easy to do and extremely time consuming as most of them retain a wonderful patina.

Among these unattributed coins are some great examples of the ancient Greek coinage. There is a wide variety and range of coins here that will prove to be really interesting and often valuable once attributed.

When we have had these coins from the same collector in the past they have always sold really well with the same customers purchasing again and again.

    7. Gallio (Cleaned)

      Gallio (Cleaned)

These ancient Roman arrows are fantastic, they have all been sympathetically and professionally cleaned by an enthusiastic collector. They must of taken many many hours to clean so nicely yet a lot of them retain a wonderful patina.

They range in size from about 1.5cm to some that are about 8cm long, on average they are probably around 2-4 cm each in length. These are very varied as some of them have holes in them where they would have been filled with poison, others are barbed, some have just two raised edges while others have three or four.

These will make a fantastic display piece or accompaniment to any ancient coin collection.

    8. Cerberus hoard

      Cerberus hoard

This is not a typical hoard in the sense of the word but a cleaned private collection of painstakingly cleaned Byzantine coins that we took in part exchange from one of our regular customers. He collected them over a number of years and never attributed any of them. In this collection there are fantastic examples of early as well as the later Cup coins, but all the coins here are unattributed. Sizes, ages, and condition are all great, and there are no slugs at all in here so every single coin will be attributable. Some of them have fantastic patinas and each of them is in great condition.

      Jupiter Hoard

Without question this is the best Crusty Hoards that we have ever had. Weighing in at 22Kgs, it is thankfully a good size as I can’t foresee one coming up this good again in a very long time, but it will not hang around for long. It is a potential treasure trove for collectors as it has so much going for it. This Hoard offers the potential for some very ancient, rare and valuable finds.

      Glaber

Apart from having to pay a 'kings ransom' for this hoard because of the quality and the fact it has some silver in it, it is everything that we had hoped for. Without question this is the very best late Roman hoard that we have EVER had. A far higher percentage of the coins than normal carry good starting detail, some are unquestionable premium in terms of uncleaned quality. A great deal of these coins will require very little cleaning, if at all in some cases. And you certainly get the feeling that even the crustier ones should also clean up given a little patience.

There is also a few visible silver and silvered coins to be found in here, that just add to the excitement. It is a very rare thing to see late Roman hoards come up that are so nice off the bat. Not sure if we will ever get another one that is so nice, if you like cleaning more premium quality later Roman coins then this is the one for you.

Here we have a hoard of what appears to be mainly classical Greek coins, there is also the odd Byzantine coin mixed in. They are fairly crusty so there could be almost anything in here but Greek coins do have a nice habit of cleaning up to be attributable compared to their Roman counterparts due to the thickness and quality of the metal used. Some of them already show a bit of detail so they promise to be an exciting clean and a lot of fun to attribute.

Here we have a fairy crusty but fairly interesting hoard of mainly Roman coins. The detail on them generally does not make most of them attributable off the bat, and some patience will be required to unlock a lot of the secrets here as they are fairly crusty. Interestingly enough there seems to be a nice range in sizes of the coins indicating there could be some interesting finds here.

    14. Fortuna

      Fortuna

This 11Kg Hoard is named after the goddess of fortune, it is a terrific early Roman hoard with a large number of the thick Greek coins in it as well. What is great about this hoard is that it is almost exclusively made up of either very large or extremely thick coins; it has virtually no smaller coins in it at all. The size of the coins alone in this hoard would class them as premium un cleaned by most dealers. When taking the pictures I noticed straight away that a few of the coins had the legend Caesar written on them. That would date this hoard at around 50AD for those particular coins give or take several hundred years either side of typical coin use.

In addition to having some lovely large coins you will notice that a lot of them have a fantastic patina, and would probably respond favourably to being cleaned in distilled water or Olive oil. Historically having some visible Caesar coins in here means that you are likely to have some very interesting and potentially historic and valuable coins.

      Pandora Hoard

This is a very nice hoard if you love Ptolemy coins, is has a far higher number in it than we would typically see. I would estimate at somewhere around 10% by weight of this hoard is made up from these very collectable and valuable coins.
