Here we have some crustier lower grade Greek coins that will prove to be a bit more challenging to clean than normal. Greek coins do tend to clean up well as long as you persist with them; some of the coins here show some detail but the majority of them will take a fair bit of cleaning before they start to show the fruits of your labour but priced accordingly.
On the plus side because these coins are on the crustier side it really does mean that there could be almost anything in here.

Olympia
This is a mainly Greek hoard with some interesting earlier Roman coins in it. Everyone always loves cleaning Greek coins as they often contain mythical creatures and can often prove to be very interesting and more valuable than their Roman counterparts. We believe that there should be some very interesting coins contained in this hoard. It has a good feel to it and a few that are already showing detail are ones that we have never seen before.
If you are looking for something with some real variety and rarity that is mainly Greek then we think that this hoard should not disappoint.

Alexander
This is without question one of the nicest hoards that we have ever had the pleasure of offering for sale. This complete hoard of 99 Alexander the Great coins are from around 300BC and were originally from a long-standing German collection. They all show fantastic detail even in their current state, and share a wonderful patina.
Owning this hoard of coins is a very rare opportunity, and I can say with almost complete certainty there will never be another opportunity to purchase such a historic and lovely hoard of Greek coins.
The obverse of the coins has a few different designs on including Horses, Bows, and other designs. These can be very sought after and rare coins and after attribution and carful cleaning (if you really want to) will be a great investment.
We normally sell hoards broken down by weight but on this occasion we can only offer the complete hoard for sale, as it would be too much of a shame to split it. It is priced very conservatively for such a wonderful hoard of coins in such strong condition.
A real once in a lifetime purchase!!! Complete hoard of coins £2500.

Hypnos
This is a hoard that contains a good percentage of classical Greek coins depicting ancient Gods, creatures and horses coins along with some interesting earlier Roman and Persian coins. A lot of the coins are reasonably encrusted at the moment but being earlier thicker coins they will generally take well to cleaning because the bronze used in the manufacturing process was far superior to that of a lot of later coins. With a bit of patience these will make for some very interesting cleaning and attributing that could potentially lead to some exciting finds. There is also a variety of artefacts within this hoard including a few rings, brooches and miscellaneous items.

Hebron
This is a Holy land hoard that was found in Israel, hoards from this region are very interesting as they offer such a wide variety of coins and history. This is due to the numerous wars and occupation in the region combined with it being a major trading location. Unlike the more traditional European hoards the range and size of the coins vary considerably. They start at an extremely small size as often they include fractional Greek coins and on the other side of the scale can include very large coins including Byzantine Follis or Ptolemy coins. There are certainly among the most varied hoards ever found and can often contain some extremely interesting and valuable coins from a wide range of civilisations and cultures.

Amisos
This is without question one of the nicest hoards that I have ever had the pleasure of seeing. The detail even before cleaning is striking with well over 90% of the coins being instantly attributable in their current state. Pontos is often considered the home of the Amazons.
The first travels of Greek merchants and adventurers to the Pontian region occurred probably from around 1000 BC, whereas their settlements would become steady and solidified cities only by the 8th and 7th centuries BC as archaeological findings document. This fits in well with a foundation date of 731 BC as reported by Eusebius of Caesarea for Sinope, perhaps the most ancient of the Greek Colonies in what was later to be called Pontus.[12] The epical narratives related to the travels of Jason and the Argonauts to Colchis, the tales of Heracles' navigating the Black Sea and Odysseus' wanderings into the land of the Cimmerians, as well as the myth of Zeus constraining Prometheus to the Caucasus mountains as a punishment for his outwitting the Gods.

Here we have a hoard of large mainly Roman Provincial coins, I would say they are in slightly over average condition as a good deal of them you can feel the relief on prior to cleaning and a few of them already show good noticeable detail on them. A lot of these Provincial coins can be very collectable and offer some interesting cleaning, it should also be noted that a lot of these coins were often used in circulation until they were fairly worn.

Atticus
This is a rather pleasant hoard of mainly Roman coins; it has a nice mix of the rarer large coins as well as the smaller denominations. There is also a nice helping of silver coins in this hoard, we must have seen at least 30 or 40 while we were pouring the coins out on the table to take photographs, but as we don’t stage our photographs there are only a couple visible in the pictures.
This hoard seems to have some very interesting coins in it and should prove to be a lot of fun when cleaning and attributing them. A good few coins are already showing some detail so I would say it is “over average” for a hoard of this nature.
